Urine Color and Acid
I think most of us know that when you see your urine very colored like deep orange you are told that you just have not been drinking enough fluids. There is no question that this is an indication of dehydration, but it is really is not that simple. It is also an indication that you are producing an acid waste that is unavoidable. Acid waste as in lactic acid is a byproduct of physical activity. It is not a question of avoiding it by being sedentary as that would bring on big problems and we know what they are. Keeping a healthy cardiovascular system, keeping lymph fluids moving and much more is a beneficial product of physical activity.
It is just a question of managing the situation and it starts and finishes with the diet/fluids that we will touch on shortly. It is also a question of how consistent and lasting is an acid condition in your system. Short durations are natural, the majority of the day being acid is suicide. If you are really into physical fitness but are eating the wrong foods and drinks, you will understand why they find these runners dead as stone along the roadside.
Even at close to 75 years old I am a pretty active guy.
15 minutes of intense exercise in the morning with my in house equipment, 3
games of paddle ball with some very competitive opponents, and most mornings I
come home and work on our property doing some heavy gardening and it produces a
very colored urine. Now during this period I consume about a 1/2 gallon of
distilled water that is spiked with alkaline components, apple cider vinegar,
lemon juice (Yes they are alkaline when they hit your stomach) and a few
other alkaline additives.
We avoid chlorinated water like the plague as it has a negative affect on the good bacteria in your gut and Chlorinated water does not get everything out anyway and that includes Strontium derived from our Nuclear plants as well as other sources that is contaminating our water sources. Lead is another problem in drinking water. In fact we go a step further and run our city water through a charcoal filter, distill the water and run it through a charcoal filter after it is distilled. This is the only way to insure the removal of the bad stuff going on in our water supplies. Our concern regarding the purity of our water started on our farm and deep wells under our pesticide ridden soils.
I
suppose we could drink more water, but I believe there is more to this than just
hydrating, it is more of a question of what you are hydrating with and the ratio
of alkaline foods that you are eating versus acid foods. A rough ratio is like 75% alkaline and 25% acid. If you are indulging in acid foods and sugary fluids a lot of
water is not going to do the trick. You need alkaline foods and fluids to
work in concert with the hydration.
Quite honestly I don't believe it is possible to achieve weak yellow urine after heavy physical activity until you give the kidneys a chance to do their work if you give them a chance that is. Saturating your kidneys with acid foods and drink is really putting a burden on your kidneys.
If you are physically active one day and the next morning your pH has not returned to a normal range this means you are not hydrating enough and you are not getting enough alkalinity to return the chemistry back to normal.
The true test is the "morning after" and this is where the
pH test strips (pH ion 1-888-744-8584) that I have suggested or a
visit to the Pharmacy for a roll of Nitrazine paper that does an adequate job of
determining your urine pH that will reflect how difficult it will be to maintain
the 7.37 critical pH in your blood and lymph system. The body as you may
know must maintain a 7.34 pH blood and lymph reading.
My wife and I try to maintain a 6.5 urine ph and somewhat higher on Saliva indicates stability. Blood pressure that is stable as well as your body weight that is stable is a indication of good health. The optimum diet that is providing all the alkalinity it needs without cannibalizing your body and adipose areas, desperately searching for the minerals the body requires easily maintains the 7.37 pH in both your blood and lymph fluids. Unfortunately accessing stored alkalinity as in the bones and adipose areas have a nasty toxicity that goes along with it. So when you do cannibalize these areas you not only extract the minerals, but you have take the crap with it and that is the epitome of "Toxic acid waste" and this is covered below.
If the body can't get enough alkalinity out of your food the body has a remarkable ability to scavenge your bone mass for the minerals to do it. This may be o.k. on a very temporary basis, but it surely is not in your bodies best interest to reach that juncture. This is where the dreaded osteoporosis pops its head. There may be times where the bones are called upon to contribute minerals, but it must be replaced ASAP. (The best source of calcium to replace the loss is in the bones of fish) We just recently discovered that King salmon not only has the highest amount of Omega 3 fatty acids it has a high amount of soluble bones. If you want to be healthy and live a long life you cannot do it without the bones of fish in my opinion. There are other sources of calcium in the diet, cottage cheese, nuts and seed, green veggies. Last is out of a bottle. We take a minimum amount of supplements out of a bottle and always take them at our meals in concert with the minerals in our food.
Sardines and Tuna caught in the pristine waters of the
Northwest parts of the world (from the USA) have these properties as well but
King Salmon is the King. Call Pappa George 206-255-4203 for Tuna and
King Salmon and ask for Molly, she is the wife of the Fisherman, but be ready
for a price shock as fish without contamination as in some of the farm fish is
priced at a premium. We purchase our Sardines the Angelo Parodi brand from
Taylors market in San Francisco 877-770-6077
If you have read some of our features on pH you will have seen the optimum pH of your urine, first draw in the morning will be somewhere in the 6.25 to 6.75 range. We are told that 6.4 is perfect for optimum ionization and we will accept that.
Now the problem is many will ask, why be so active to produce a very colored and acid urine?
The answer is simple because you need to engage in vigorous
exercise to remain healthy and accept and deal with the consequences that result
from it.
The question is how do you deal with the consequences?
You can start with a diet that is alkaline dominant and that means raw veggies and alkaline liquids. When you eat meat it should not be any larger than the palm of your hand and preferably a little smaller. In addition it should not be any thicker than your index finger. Remember meat is essential in your diet, but meat is acid producing.
In addition to raw salads at lunch and dinner on the main
plate (not on the side) we have a concentrated smoothie mid day that has fruit and
berries, nuts and
seed, but is dominant in super concentrated green veggies as in
fresh Kale, Parsley, Spinach and Swiss Chard, Sprouts with some Broccoli and
Cauliflower that can be purchased in frozen form for convenience sake. We
also grow our own Aloe Vera and insert the gel from one leaf each day and that
takes about 40 plants that we nurse like a baby to keep up with this demand.
Of course Aloe Vera is legendary in its benefits. On days that we are very
physically active our smoothie is primarily from the greens as we don't even
want to deal with the sugar in fruits on these occasions, as sugar is sugar and
it is acid. If you really want to kick the acids in the butt and your
urine pH shows it, go green.
